Biography:

Prof Gill Duchesne has been Director of Radiation Oncology at Peter Mac since 2002. Trained in Clinical Oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, she subsequently worked at the Middlesex Hospital, University College and the Institute of Urology. She migrated to Australia in 1996, and has worked in Melbourne ever since. She is a prominent member of the Australian academic and research community in radiation oncology, and is currently Chair of the Scientific Committee of TROG, and a member of Council of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. She has a keen interest in the evolving technologies supporting the disciplines of radiation oncology and diagnostic imaging. Her prime clinical focus is urological cancer, with research interests in imaging and radiation treatment advances, brachytherapy, psycho-oncology and cancer biology. She is principal or chief investigator on a number of active uro-oncological trials in bladder and prostate cancer in Australia. She was the key clinician in the MRC-UK BA09, of radiation therapy schedules in the palliation of advanced carcinoma of the bladder.
