Biography:

Dr David Camp graduated from QIT (now QUT) in 1985 with a B.App.Sc. and commenced an Honours degree in 1986 at Griffith University, studying the initiation mechanisms of free radical polymerisation.  After graduating with first class honours, he undertook a Ph.D. from 1987-1990 investigating the mechanism of the Mitsunobu reaction.

From 1991 to 2001, Dr Camp held positions at Syntex, A.N.U., Griffith University and Monash University. In 2001, Dr Camp was appointed Head of the newly formed Biota and Compound Management (BACM) group within Natural Product Discovery – a collaboration between Griffith University and AstraZeneca. The BACM group handled logistical elements related to processing, extraction and management of the 45 000 biota, 80 000 extracts and more than 5000 pure compounds contained in the Biota Library, “Nature Bank” and Compound Library respectively. Dr Camp is a member of the Royal Australian Chemistry Institute (RACI), the European Chapter of the Laboratory Robotics Interest Group (ELRIG), and AstraZeneca’s Compound Management Group.
