Biography:

Dr Yaxley completed his Australiasian urological Fellowship in 1995. He subsequently travelled to Bristol in the United Kingdom for his post fellowship training, sub-specialising in uro-oncology. Currently his private practice is treats prostate cancer and bladder malignancy. Dr Yaxley started the first prostatic Brachytherapy Unit in Queensland in conjuction with the radiotherapists at the Wesley Hospital in August 2000. This hospital remains the only private unit providing high dose rate prostatic brachytherapy treatment in Queensland, having treated over 500 patients. He performs low dose rate prostatic brachytherapy implants using live real time technology, and has a special interst in radical prostatectomy, particularly in nerve sparing procedures to maintain post operative potency. Dr Yaxley's research interests include clinical outcomes of nerve sparing radical prostatectomy and brachytherapy treatments. He is also interested in in cellular changes from the herbal medicines used for prostate cancer. Dr Yaxley has also commenced robotic radical prostatectomy from April 2009.
