Biography:

Kirsten completed a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences with a major in Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) at The University of Queensland in 2013. Her honours thesis examined the validity of a self-administered questionnaire to predict hip bone mineral density (as measured by duel-energy X-ray absorptiometry) in healthy middle-aged and older men. Kirsten has since been involved in various research projects investigating elite Olympic-distance triathletes, high-impact exercise on bone mineral density, and androgen suppression therapy-induced bone loss in men with prostate cancer.

Kirsten is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and has worked in a private clinical exercise physiology clinic since 2012. In early 2014, she was awarded the Exercise and Sports Science Award that acknowledged her for outstanding professional qualities in the field. She also received the Patrick Cuskelly Memorial Prize - awarded for outstanding practicum performance in Exercise Science.

Despite only recently beginning research, she has a peer-reviewed publication in Osteoporosis International and a second manuscript recently submitted for publication. Most recently, she commenced her PhD in the field of cancer-related fatigue, and is investigating the effects of different exercise intensities on various markers of fatigue in men with prostate cancer.
