Biography:

Dr Michelle Hill is a cell biologist with a strong background in proteomics and cell signalling. Dr Hill joined the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute for Cancer, Immunology and Metabolic Medicine in 2009 with an NHMRC Career Development Award. Her research examines the molecular links between obesity and cancer with initial focus on prostate, breast and oesophageal adenocarcinomas. The program has the following aims: to use proteomics on clinical samples for identification and validations of biomarkers; and to use cell biology proteomics to discover novel therapeutic targets for drug development.

Dr Hill currently receives support from the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia to perform a systems biology analysis to examine the role of caveolin and lipid raft domains in prostate cancer progression. Dr Hill has received several prestigious awards, including the 2004 National Association of Research Fellows of NHMRC Postdoctoral Investigators Award.
