Dr Assinder's work is concerned with three main areas: the role of oxytocin in prostate disease; actin-binding proteins in regulation of the cytoskeleton and their roles in prostate cancer; and the ingeration of the AKT, PTEN and TGF-b pathways. This work is in collaboration with Profs Des Richardson and Qihan Dong, co-members of the Bosch Prostate Cancer Focus Group.

Current Areas of Collaboration: integration of cell signal pathways and pharmocological targeting; diagnostic and prognostic marker discovery.

AKT, NDRG-1, PTEN, TGF-beta, cancer initiation, cancer progression, genes/genetic polymorphisms, localized therapies, marker discovery, metastases, normal functioning, oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes, oxytocin, technology development, transgelin, tropomyosin.
