Biography:
Dr Vasundara Venkateswaran obtained her Ph.D from the University of Madras, India. She has had several years of research training at the Washington State University and the University of Kansas Medical Centre, USA. She returned to India for five years where she had a tenured position as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Madras, India. Dr Venkateswaran was recruited to run the Prostate Cancer Research Laboratory at Sunnybrook in January 2000 and was appointed Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery, University of Toronto in Sept. 2003. Dr Venkateswaran has been a huge success since her recruitment and has established a major initiative in the study of the cellular effects of micronutrient research in prostate cancer. She has been highly successful in receiving peer reviewed operating grant support from the CPCRI, NCIC, Prostate Cancer Canada and CIHR. Dr Venkateswaran has also established numerous collaborations with investigators throughout North America as well as locally in Toronto.
